Relaxing Doesn't Make Babies

Beta Results

April 14, 2009 — 4:05 pm

I took a nap after our very long flights and my blood draw, but kept my phone right next to me. I woke up and the damn phone was dead! So I had to plug it in and check my voicemail… there was a message.

Nurse says I’m definitely pregnant, beta was 1049. Which to me sounds a little on the low side for 23dpo, but obviously there is a very large range of normal and I kind of already figured that this one was a slow starter, given the light HPTs I was getting. They’ve scheduled my ultrasound for next wednesday at 10am, and I am opting to have a second blood draw in two days just to hopefully reassure me.

I feel like I ought to be more relieved by a good beta, but I’m not really. Still just so guarded.

The spotting continues. Off and on. A little here, a little there, never all that much, never staying.

Edit: Found some more HPTs stashed in my bathroom… a FRER and an Answer. Both have the test line darker than the control line now. So I think it’s safe to say that my HCG has been appropriately rising so far. It’s so nice to see dark lines!!

I have heard that FET betas start lower than regular transfers, something about the thaw process makes that happen. But 1049 is not bad. As long as the numbers continue to rise? That’s all that matters.

    Fingers still tightly crossed.

I am so happy for you, congratulations! I think the second blood draw will provide some much needed reassurance. You went a long time without really knowing, how unnerving. Hope you get total peace of mind soon. By the way I’ve read somewhere (but not sure it was somewhere legit, so take it with a grain of salt) that FETs often implant a little later, for what that’s worth. Any way, you’re PREGNANT!!

At 35 days past ovulation my HCG was 578. It doubled just fine. I don’t think the absolute value is as important as it doubling.

those are fine numbers :) congrats to you!! i had bleeding with my pgs, at the same time as you are and to the same degree. it drove me insane because i had also had losses previous. the scan might detect a little area where the spotting is coming from, and knowing what it is an be reassuring, to a degree. i am so happy for you :) hang in there!
