Relaxing Doesn't Make Babies

Nurse’s Take

April 13, 2009 — 2:33 pm

More spotting this morning… more brownish this time. And again, nothing after.

I did call the nurses, I just got the call back. Basically the answer is what I expected: spotting can be normal, especially since I’m using prometrium (which can irritate the cervix), I go in for my blood test when I get back and they’ll give me a call as soon as they get the results, we’re all hoping for the best, but there’s nothing I can do about the spotting, and it’s too early for them to check anything. It’s just wait and see.

I have a feeling I’m not going to be feeling better for a while.

I had spotting with my daughter and they told me the same thing, unless its RED FLOW, dont freak its an irritate cervix (yes they told me those exact words)
I had an early miscarrige with my second pregnancy and the blood was def FLOW with clotty stuff/chunks in it.

    Congrats and enjoy

You know, I know a few people who had spotting because of prometrium. I hope that is all it is! What a rollercoaster.

I had spotting with both Cora and Erin. And yeah, it’s hard to just sit and hope when you don’t really know what’s going on. I’ll keep praying!

I have been following your blog since you delivered Devin.
I am so happy for your current pregnancy. I also have fertility issues and my daughter was conceived through IVF. I spotted/ even bled until I was 11 weeks pregnant and after each visit when they checked anything inside me. Each bathroom visit during my entire pregnancy I checked my underwear in fear it would start again and something terrible was on the way. It is hard not being able to sit back and enjoy. I am sorry for the loss you had and the struggles along the way but I hope with all my heart this is your turn….

Just wanted to chime in with another success story with spotting. I spotted from weeks 5-13 and even had several episodes of red bleeding – pg was from a FET, she’s 6 weeks old now. My fertility dr says she sees bleeding/spotting in 60% of her IVF/FET patients. Mine was from subchorionic bleeds which can be scary, but are harmless in the majority of cases. Like bridget, I checked the tp during every bathroom visit until the night I went into labor. I hope this will be your success story!
