Relaxing Doesn't Make Babies

Oh, so this is the way of it?

April 11, 2009 — 7:28 pm

Today I had lunch out. Came home, did some stuff online. Went to the bathroom… more blood. But just the spot, a big splotch of watery red blood on my panty liner – there was hardly any on my toilet paper, even. No cramping, nothing.

So apparently I am going to spot during this pregnancy. This time I am not going into a tailspin, because I at least am somewhat prepared. I am not very fond of this, but I don’t believe that this necessarily means the end is near. In a few days I will be home and hopefully be able to figure out what’s going on.

It is a little disconcerning for this pregnancy to have such a nervewracking start, though. I have a feeling if this pregnancy does end up continuing that I will need to be cutting back at work significantly. For now I am just taking it very easy and trying to stay positive. As long as this bleeding stays random and short-lived like this I think I can handle it.

Update: It’s been hours of light light leftover bleeding when I wiped, and now that is gone too. Another sigh of relief. But now I’ll be waiting for the next big splotch of blood. Stupid body, seriously. Grumble grumble…. paranoid…. grumble… basket of nerves… grumble…

I know that it isn’t any consolation, but I spotted throughout my first trimester and occasionally in the second trimester. And I have a healthy, happy 2 week old baby sitting next to me. I hope everything works out, and it could just be implantation spotting. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Well, it sucks, but better to have chaos and badness now than later. Let’s hope it is like a bad dress rehearsal – meaning the show will be fantastic!

I’m not sure if this helps or not, but I spotted from 5-8 weeks when I was pregnant. Then I spotted occasionally throughout the rest of my pregnancy. My doctors never gave me a straight answer about why it happened. They just said that “some women spot, others don’t.” I’m praying that everything is okay for you =)

I also started spotting early in pregnancy- at 19 days. I was a wreck and the nurse was completely unphased. Hang in there. Can’t you go take a beta up there? That would probably relax you a bit. And as you said earlier- you got pregnant all by yourself. I am so happy.

I’m hoping that the spotting stops for you too. Just a question: did you get implantation bleeding with Devin? I’m thinking that this could be a sort of implantation bleeding, that’s why I ask.

I had implantation bleeding with Devin, yes – which was before my positive HPT when he implanted. This is too late for implantation bleeding (which typically happens 7-10 days after ovulation), but it could be something equally benign.

I am happy to see your latest twitter..nausea, gagging and puking! SUCKS DONKEY DICK to have spotting..added stress that you don’t need. i hope for the sake of your nerves (and the internet’s) that the freaking spotting stays away. i can’t wait for your beta!

I also had implantation bleeding (at around 12 dpo and before BFPs) with my first and this pregnancy, but with this one there was also something different about it: I had some “blood” at 7 weeks which worried me. I looked up information on the net and found that implantation bleeding can also occur later. My midwife told me that it could have also been old blood that had stayed there for a while before being released.

Anyhow, I’m happy that you’re feeling symptoms again. It’s great reading your news and I will be following your progress throughout.
