Pregnancy Planner
“Pregnancy Planner” data from Simply Moms (based on 30-day cycle, which is my best guess). Obviously my charting at FF will provide better details, but this is good to stare at for now. ;)

From a woman on the pregnancy boards, when I asked about depression, meds and pregnancy:
Wow, I never knew that.
She also added this:
So maybe I’ll talk to my doctor about Prozac or Zoloft, but I’m already feeling better about it.
One good thing about being on my period is that I’m definitely not pregnant and can take advil for my headaches. Of course, I’d just prefer not to get headaches…
Today I went grocery shopping – but not for normal groceries, I already did that. Instead this time I bought fruits, and veggies, and prenatal vitamins, and milk, and whole wheat bread. Lots of fruit, fresh fruit. I also bought some of those Ziplock twist-and-lock containers, but I’ll need to buy more. When I got home I took all the fruits out and cleaned them, peeled them (if necessary), cut them up, and put them into the containers. Now they’re all sitting in the fridge ready to eat. :)
Yay two of my pregnancy books arrived today! I got “The Unofficial Guide to Having a Baby” and The Mother of All Pregnancy Books.” Honestly I should have gotten only one of them, they’re pretty similar… but how was I supposed to know. And IMO the more info the better. Maybe I can give one away as a gift. :) I still have another book coming.
One thing that seems quite clear to me as I read these books: it’s a good thing I’m at the weight I am now. My BMI is 22, which is perfect. (I’m 5’6″ tall and around 135lbs.) I guess my body really did know what it was doing when it put on weight when I hit maturity. :) I just have that little bit of extra padding. And to be honest, except for the bit of flab around my waist, the extra weight looks good on me. It gives me curves. And it’s almost certainly healthier – especially for carrying a baby.
All I ate yesterday was some toast, OJ, and half a chicken burger from Wendy’s. Today I’m starting on the same with some toast and OJ for breakfast. I’d like to eat more, but just can’t during my period. Something about the cramps make my stomach feel aweful, and food seem very unappetizing. :(
Well I had my first consultation with my new OB/GYN. First impression: she’s not a warm, fuzzy kind of person. She has a mustache… really not that attractive. In her 40s, I’d say. I’m not… thrilled. I liked the assistants more than I liked her. I just didn’t really feel at-ease with her, like I wasn’t sure what to say. And when she did speak, it was short and to the point. Meh. I don’t know if I should look for another one or not.
But she did answer a few things, though not more than what I already knew (with one exception):
1) Both of my meds are on the “C” list, which means there’s been little to no testing done with them to discover their affect. No effects have been recorded. It’s recommended that you not be on them while pregnant/breastfeeding, but she said, “If you have to, you have to.”
2) Any pre-natal vitamin will do, the folic acid is the key. So I’ll have to go find one.
3) Don’t have to wait to start trying (after going off the pill, which I just did). She said taking 6-12 months to get pregnant is not unusual.
4) I asked about my mom having problems during my birth (I wouldn’t come out – wouldn’t fit – and after being in labor for like 24 hours they finally went into c-section. She never waited to find out with Cory, they just scheduled a c-section right away.), she said there’s no correlation between mom and me, that you never know what will happen. So that’s good.
Oh yeah, I think my body’s pissed at me for stopping the pill mid-cycle. I probably shouldn’t have, but I wanted to get off the pill as soon as possible. But my body never reacts well to it. It’s really quite painful and it’s not even 10am yet. :(
And I really shouldn’t have had that OJ with breakfast. I’m burping it all back up. Cry.
Random amusing/stupid thing: I’m sitting here staring at my midol bottle wondering if I should be taking it when trying to have a baby. Then I realize, I only take it when I have my period… which is NOT going to coincide with having a baby. Duh!
Yep, woke up this morning to my period. Which I knew was coming. What I find really interesting is how my BBT temp dropped dramatically from 98.2 all the way down to 97.3. I am finding it absolutely FASCINATING learning all this stuff about my body. About the cervical mucus – how it goes through different consistencies during your cycle. You know, in my early teens I thought I had a yeast infection or something when I’d see that on my panties. No one ever told me any of this stuff. And for the past three years I’ve been on the pill for the majority of the time (mainly so I could know when I’d be getting my period!!) so I couldn’t find out for myself.
I just wanted to keep notes on the info I found through the site Jess linked to: (this would be Dr. Hale)
“During pregnancy, the only FDA approved drug is Prozac. That said, many physicians have used others such as Zoloft, Paxil, etc…its just that they are not “cleared” for use in pregnant patients. However, ultimately its really between the mom and physician as to the best choices.
“If Celexa works fine, then its really between the mom and doctor if they are to use it.
As for breastfeeding my choices as per safety are:
“1. Zoloft or Paxil
2. Celexa, Lexapro, or bupropion
3. Effexor
4. Prozac”
Plus, I’m on very low dosages. I started at 40mg/day of Celexa, and am currently down to 20, though I could even cut that in half I bet. Wellbutrin I’m taking 100mg/day, and I’d cut it in half if I could (but the pill’s big and round). The more I read, the more I’m thinking I will just stay on the meds. As another doctor posted on that site, while it may very well be “safer” to not take any medications while pregnant, you have to take into account the health of the mother… and being severely depressed during pregnancy is NOT a healthy thing, for mother or baby.
