Pre-Pregnancy OB/GYN Appointment
Well I had my first consultation with my new OB/GYN. First impression: she’s not a warm, fuzzy kind of person. She has a mustache… really not that attractive. In her 40s, I’d say. I’m not… thrilled. I liked the assistants more than I liked her. I just didn’t really feel at-ease with her, like I wasn’t sure what to say. And when she did speak, it was short and to the point. Meh. I don’t know if I should look for another one or not.
But she did answer a few things, though not more than what I already knew (with one exception):
1) Both of my meds are on the “C” list, which means there’s been little to no testing done with them to discover their affect. No effects have been recorded. It’s recommended that you not be on them while pregnant/breastfeeding, but she said, “If you have to, you have to.”
2) Any pre-natal vitamin will do, the folic acid is the key. So I’ll have to go find one.
3) Don’t have to wait to start trying (after going off the pill, which I just did). She said taking 6-12 months to get pregnant is not unusual.
4) I asked about my mom having problems during my birth (I wouldn’t come out – wouldn’t fit – and after being in labor for like 24 hours they finally went into c-section. She never waited to find out with Cory, they just scheduled a c-section right away.), she said there’s no correlation between mom and me, that you never know what will happen. So that’s good.
