Relaxing Doesn't Make Babies

Sick

Feb 28, 2006 — 2:51 pm

Ugh, it’s hard to really think about anything when I feel like crap. I hope the antibiotics knock this thing out. Sucks.

Unfortunately I turned into a mute when at the doctors. Didn’t help that I’ve been having a crappy day and was all flustered from losing my health care card (It’s somewhere around here… just don’t know where). So when I got in to see the doctor everything flew out of my head. I didn’t ask about the insomnia/depression, I didn’t mention that I’d just ovulated.. I just said I’m stuffed up and feeling lousy and my sinuses are to blame, he checked me out, proscribed me some antibiotics. One can only hope that since he knows I’m TTC that it’d be something safe for pregnancy, since I don’t know if I am or not yet. I was actually going to wait until after I got AF or a positive test before going in, but people on the forum said don’t put your life on hold “just in case”… you give yourself a better chance for implantation anyways. It’s good to be healthy. And not miserable.

I like sheep. Of course, for a girl I really like butterflies and flowers designs, and I also really like blue stars-and-moons… but I’m also partial to sheep. Y’all know why. One of my favorites is Clover Fields, but that’s way too expensive. I even still have the stuffed sheep that was given to me on my first birthday from my oma. I just hope the dogs don’t get it. I’ll give it to my kid.

Den of course insists that if it’s a baby boy the room must be full of sports themed things. Ugh.

Another Crib

Feb 17, 2006 — 8:11 am

Ah ha!! Here’s another crib, from Walmart, along the same lines as the other one I liked. Delta Jasmine. $220. I believe I saw this one in Toys ‘R Us in the mall (it’s not on their website) and loved it. The one you pointed out Kel, the Storkcraft Rochester, it’s the one I keep seeing online and liking but it’s *not quite* what I want. It does have the drawer though which could be useful. I’d like to see that one in person. But at least we have options! :D

Also of note, here’s a nice little “portable crib” that would make an excellent bassinet: Delta Fold-a-Way Portable Crib. $92.

Crib!

Feb 16, 2006 — 10:05 pm

I found the perfect crib!! I’ve been looking at baby furniture and gear for months now, ever since I started this TTC journey, and one thing I couldn’t find was a crib. They can be horrible expensive, let me tell you. And after looking at a lot of cribs I knew what I wanted: a convertable crib, light natural wood color, day bed style with a curved back and sides. I couldn’t find one I liked – I found a few, but they had “fancy” slats or some weird feature that just looked wrong. Then look at this Ameriwood Lifetime Crib. Perfect! It wasn’t out of stock earlier today when I found it. *grumble* It’s $250, and the reviews were good. I don’t think that the side slides down at all, but I’m not too concerned about that – a lot of cribs have stationary rails now for safety purposes. And another good thing is that Den likes it! :D He and I don’t usually agree on things, but this is a great compromise for us. I’d be just as happy with white baby furniture, but Den really prefers wood tones to plain white – and I’m a fan of really dark ebony wood or natural maple colors. Also he likes that this crib has character – the curves and such, it’s not boring and plain. So we’re both happy! And I’m happy it’s not a $500 crib!

One thing I’d really like to get but I don’t know if we’ll be able to afford is a glider. I’d love a glider for the baby’s room, but they’re not cheap. I’m making a list of essential and non-essential baby items and it’s going to be expensive, even if we do get some things as gifts.

Cosleeping Tossed

Feb 16, 2006 — 2:43 pm

I mentioned to Den how I’d been thinking about our idea of a co-sleeper baby bed. Originally it sounded like a great idea. But then I thought low bed, attached to our bed, with no divider in between. Our dogs are immediately going to think new bed for us! and attempt to sleep in it. Yes, even the 100 pounder – he’s constantly stuffing himself into little miss Zoe’s crate (definitely too small for him). And Zoe, she thinks she’s a cat, and she loves to curl up on top of you. So without a doubt we’d wake up to find one of the dogs in the baby’s crib. Not cool! So we’re going to have to get a bassinet, or at least a cosleeper or something similar that is kept seperate from our bed, so the dogs can’t climb in. A little more annoying for breastfeeding mom, but oh well.

… Or Not

Feb 15, 2006 — 10:38 am

Well apparently I was misled. I had three normal-ish days, then spotting, then another day of red flow, and now today I still have spotting/something. Arrggggg. Lulling me into a false sense of security, that’s just cruel!

So we had sex anyways – it was Valentines for christ’s sake – but besides that I was – and am – horny. Horny horny. Den came home for lunch today and I jumped him yet again. Yarg.

Short AF!

Feb 13, 2006 — 3:08 pm

Well this period didn’t follow the same pattern as the other three. The others were medium-heavy two days, then light two days, then spotting for a day. This time it was light-medium for one day, then heavy for a day, then light, and now barely spotting. Weird. Shaved a day off my period. Three days, can’t argue with that. :D

I’m still terribly irritable and grumpy, though.

Irritated

Feb 11, 2006 — 1:47 pm

Suffering from some pretty major irritability today. When Den talks, he annoys me. When he touches me, he annoys me. I think I nearly hit him earlier when he tried playing with my hair. And when he started humming I almost yelled. Yikes. I think I’m going to stay in the bedroom today… I’m obviously unfit for civilization.

Start of Cycle 4

Feb 10, 2006 — 11:53 pm

AF arrived today and I feel yucky. I haven’t taken any Midol, because I haven’t been in pain at all, but my stomach is so upset, I have to keep running to the bathroom. Blah!

Funny aside – last time I was shopping I remembered I was out of normal sized pads, so I bought some. Now I figured that something with “medium” on it would be fine. These things are tiny little panty shields! Good thing I’m having a light day. (Yes, I still forget what brand I usually buy. That aisle is way overwhelming!)

Now… planning for a November baby. I want this one to work. If it doesn’t, we take a month off and Den gets sent for a sperm analysis. He’ll love that.

AF Coming

Feb 10, 2006 — 4:22 pm

Temp dropped WAY down this morning, and today I’m dealing with stomach aches and cramps. Started spotting. AF is well on its way.

So, no October baby for us. I’m disappointed, but not very upset, considering how I felt about October. I am, however, now feeling anxious about next month because it’s our last chance for a 2006 baby. :( That makes me feel panicky.
