Relaxing Doesn't Make Babies

Maybe teeth

On the good side, at least the phase of I don’t want to sleep I want to crawl/pull up and I’m going to scream at you for half an hour has passed. She goes to bed so easily again. Not every time, but when she’s tired all I have to do is nurse her, give her her paci, and then wait for her to fall asleep. I’m even scooting back a little bit so she’s not cuddled right into me, and putting her on her belly. And she just… falls asleep. (Of course then I have to wait FOREVER for her to fall asleep deep enough that I can open the door without waking her up. It’s like she gets 95% of the way there and then just hangs.) This makes bed time FAR more pleasant for all involved.

On the bad side, she wakes up every freaking hour. Sometimes half an hour. Even after I bring her to bed with me, where I am sleeping touching her, she’s still waking up every 2 hours. Every 2 hours! All night long! Aaaggghhhhhhh. And she’s crying and whimpering and fidgeting so there’s definitely something bothering her. At least I kind of hope so, because then it will go back to “normal” when it’s over with.

Given how she was chomping viciously on her paci all day I’m putting money on teeth. She uses her paci on and off during the day. It was only during naptime but she seems to need it more right now. Today every 5 minutes she was pushing it to the side of her mouth and really gnawing on the thing. If the paci wasn’t on hand then she stuck her fingers in her mouth. Or my knee, or the couch arm, or the table. My child still has no teeth so I am just waiting.

Just this evening my throat started hurting so apparently I am getting sick. I hope that’s not what is bugging her. Ugh.

If its her teeth, peel a nice *thick* carrott (make sure its cold out of the fridge-cut the thinner end off) and let her “knaw” on that for a while.
I used to do that with all of mine and they LOVED it.Carrotts are very tough, and with no teeth, she wont get a chunk out of it,but the cool feeling will really make her feel better whilst the texture and taste is something she´ll really like ;)

They get them all sloppy, and yes,you may have to eat it yourself afterwards lol,but she´ll enjoy it.

At night, try Tylenol. If it is indeed her teeth thats bothering her, you´ll find out right away because it *really* helps.I would not live without that during teething.

Definately sounds like it’s her teeth. “Teething tablets” worked wonders for my little one. He would also get cold symptoms everytime he was teething… although the doctor seemed to think there was no correlation between the two.

    Take care!

I second Gina, a dose (or even a half dose) of Tylenol before bed might tell you what your working with.

With our little ones, sometimes ear infections accompany teeth, and those silent symptoms sneak up really fast! If you have insurance, I’d have get her ears checked just in case.

I second the carrots! They are great for teething! I used to pack one in a baggie with ice and I would give it to her to chew on while we were at the grocery store or in a restaurant to keep her entertained and help with the pain. Tylenol at night also worked wonders for us. I know people have mixed feelings about that, but I couldn’t see having her suffer if there was something I could do to help. I basically just used it at night when she was obviously miserable. Teething tablets were also great, but were recently recalled. They are supposed to be returning with a new formula, but I haven’t seen them yet. We’ve had to return to Orajel in the interim. It’s not as good, but better than nothing. Good luck. My daughter has had a miserable time with her teeth, so I can completely understand the frustration that comes from teething.
