Relaxing Doesn't Make Babies

Show and Tell Time

I went shopping today. Oh boy is it expensive. However, I managed to snag a couple of nice things (and will be returning a couple more I bought earlier in the day, before I hit Target – why do I do that? Duh). But my biggest score of the day was shoes. Shoes!

I decided last week that enough is enough, my old comfy shoes are just not classy enough looking for work – especially not since I wore them to my other job all year. I needed… heels. Oh dear.

Of course I made a beeline for the Payless Shoes in my town. They didn’t have anything much of interest. I was highly irritated. So I looked at shoes in Kohls… yikes! Maybe I’m just cheap, but I am not paying $60 for a pair of shoes that don’t have built in massages or flashing landing lights or something. Nope. On to the mall, hunted down the Payless Shoes there. And yippee! I found something!

I ended up buying two pairs – I was going to get just one of them, but they had a BOGO half price thing going on, so I ended up getting both for $30. Yeah, you heard me… $30 total. Take that, Kohls! And they had cuter shoes, too!

And apparently, without my socks on (nylons – I had to buy friggin nylons!) I can sometimes even be a size 6 1/2 in shoes. Yep. I didn’t know that. Normally I’m a 7… sometimes even a 7 1/2 if the shoes fit weird. So one of those two from today is a 6 1/2 wide, and the other is a straight 7. Strange.

Oh, and here’s me all dressed as if I’m going to work. Even though it’s sunday and I am most definitely not going to work. Because I wanted to take a photo. So there.

Oh! And! I learned how to blowdry my hair! I’m all growed up. *sniff* Now if only I could figure out the makeup thing. I can do one thing, and one thing only: brown eyeshadow with black mascara. I try colors and it’s all run for your life! Or maybe that’s just me.

I LOVE the first pair! So cute!!

And I am right there with you on the eyeshadow. Sometimes I try blue or silver and it is scary.

You are so nice and tall it makes me weep. Sniff. Heels like that would make me look like an olive on a toothpick.

I was always v. minimalist when it came to makeup — just a bit of mascara, and maybe some lip stuff that was incredibly close to the color of my own. I guess I need some help too.

Ooh you look snazzy! LOVE the shoes. Payless rocks, ’nuff said!

As for eyeshadow, I can get it work right when I buy those ones that come with like 4 colors to a pack that are meant to go together. Otherwise, I am totally hopeless.

    Miss you!

Do note, Tash, that I am only 5’6″ – a respectable size, sure, but nothing tall. The mirror kind of distorts a little, lol.

I love patent leather shoes like it was my job. Technically, I suppose it could be.

ahh natalie you look GORGEOUS!! yes you do look tall and i was thinking “damn her for being tall…” then you wrote that you are 5’6″ and i am too so i feel better :) but i just don’t LOOK as tall as you. must be those shoes. yup. i love patent leather. i wish i could go to payless and get shoes!! OMG what a deal. i have been a runner since i was 11 so my feet…not pretty. must wear expensive/comfy shoes.
i still feel little kicks, swooshes, etc. and think i have a baby in there. i remember with the twins it was constant kicking/movements so when they were born i was like ummm…hello?? i felt so empty. i can’t wait to feel it again. can’t wait for YOU to feel it again :)

i’m a payless whore, so i get the outrage of paying $60 for shoes. i love those shoes, particularly because i have the same exact shoes from the second photo, lol.

i’m also a make-up whore, so if’d you like a pointer, you should try one of those eyeshadow quads, where you buy the set according to your eye color. you may have better luck.

shopping after my losses, was on the of first signs that i was doing better and that i would be ok. i’m so glad you are treating yourself well.

    So damn cute!

Mel (a fellow shoe whore who is so jealous that you got shoes for $15 each)

Isn’t shopping a wonderful distraction? I did it today and felt such relief as I spent more than my fair share. I’ll probably be returning some tomorrow. Those shoes are fabulous!
