Relaxing Doesn't Make Babies

Changing Body

Jan 12, 2008 — 4:23 am

Okay what is with this? I hit the third trimester and whammo, my body freaks out on me. That’s really quite cruel, especially after I was saying how wonderful I was feeling and how I didn’t have X or Y. Ha! My body is so funny.

Yesterday the rib thing started. I have no idea if it’s temporary or not, and it’s not constant, but I am getting frequent little twinges in the right side of my ribs. It comes and goes. It’s not quite painful, but uncomfortable, like I need to stretch and rub my ribs. Just like someone is pushing on them in a weird way… hmm, wonder why. ;)

I did have a good sleep without aches and pains though! I tried sleeping at first in my old favorite position of nearly being on my stomach, but with a pillow under my top leg… but I always sleep on my arm in that position and it was starting to fall asleep a little bit. I do think I fell asleep like that, though. I woke up in a totally different position… on my back, with that pillow under one side of my butt/back so I was tilted at an angle… and one of the cats was curled up in the crook of my arm with his little head nestled under my chin. That arm was going numb a little bit but I had to just stay there for a while and cuddle with him. Awwwww. He’s usually a very pushy cat who likes to lay ON your face and step on my hair, so for him to curl up nicely like that is really very sweet! I do love my kitties.

And the best part is that my hips weren’t hurting at all! Yippee! The last three nights I’ve been sleeping in “shifts”… I fall asleep in the evening at around 7 or 8pm, then wake up just after midnight. I’m awake for a few hours, I eat, pee, surf the internet, get up and walk around, then I go back to sleep for another 3-4 hours. Not really ideal in terms of getting decent sleep, but it does seem to help keep the stiffness at bay. I’m not really thrilled with falling asleep at my computer by 7pm though. But a large part of that is due to me having three very early mornings in a row. If I’m up early and don’t have a nap during the day I do tend to crash early. The reason I’m such a nighthawk normally is that I don’t get up until after 10am!

Devin has still been doing that funny position, being at work today was really weird because it’s an odd pressure that makes me have to pee even though I don’t have to pee. Then when I got home and climbed into bed with my laptop I look down and notice my belly is way lopsided. Something large and round pushing out my right side. I called Den in to ask if I was nuts, but he saw it too right away. Then a few minutes later I felt movement and looked down to see my belly ROLL and the ride side push out even further! For some reason I just keep picture him shoving his butt up. lol Goodness that was funny/weird. Den pointed out that it’s going to get a lot weirder as he grows!!

::

In the hospital for my midwife appointment today I saw at least one mama who was there for a NST. She was obviously due or overdue. I looked at her belly for a moment in wonder. It was a beautiful, perfect belly. Large, sure… but beautiful.

I admit that, amid all the times where I feel so perfect and gorgeous and proud of my belly I think how much bigger is it going to get in the next three months?? I know I’m not huge by any stretch, but it seems hard to wrap my brain around continuing to grow for 3 more months!

But then I remind myself… all through this pregnancy it always seemed hard to picture myself in a month. And yet every time I get to the next “stage” it feels so normal and natural that I can’t really remember what it was like to feel any smaller. There’s really no sense worrying about how big I’m going to be… it will be what it is and I’m pretty sure that it will feel completely normal to me.

::

I’m still getting around remarkably well. I have a very obvious baby belly now, but, other than some minor difficulties (like bumping into things when I try to scoot past!) I’m not having any problems.

I waddle… when my hips hurt in the early morning. Or if I have to pee really bad, lol. Other than that I’m just fine. I even jogged to my car today after my appointment (it was raining, and I can’t find my damn umbrella), no issue at all.

I do have to bend/lift differently than I used to… more of a wide-legged squat to make room for the belly. And it is certainly a little harder to get up than it used to be, a little more weight to push up! But still not much of an issue. I’m bending down to pick things up/wipe something up all day at work and home.

I do get winded more easily than I used to, though that’s been happening since my first trimester. Carrying things up and down the stairs at work causes me to get warm (I dress in layers so I can wear just a light shirt when I overheat!) and need to stop to breathe a bit. But it’s not like I’m going to keel over dead or anything, just a little winded. And the other funny thing is that as my belly grows larger it’s harder to carry things, because the belly kind of pushes whatever I’m carrying out further. It’s a little less stable than it used to be, lol. (And don’t worry, I don’t try to lift everything up at once!)

::

At work I felt that heavy pressure thing again and sure enough the middle of my belly was firm, some body part pressing against it. I went over to my supervisor and asked if she wanted to feel something funny… she seems quite awed by the whole thing (and a little grossed out at the same time, lol). She said, “Wow, your belly really is… pregnant!!” LOL! That cracked me up.

Tuesday evening I had a meeting with my supervisor and boss. Now my boss is not one of those touchy feely types. She has no kids and doesn’t seem to display much interest in kids or babies. Polite interest, sure, but she is NOT one to fawn over babies or ask how I’m feeling or what’s new with the baby. Very matter of fact lady. So it surprized me when after the meeting we passed in the hallway as I was leaving and she patted my belly as she walked by and said, “Hee hee!” I was quite amused by that, it was just so unexpected from her.

I am discovering that I don’t mind people touching my belly nearly as much as I thought I would. I’m normally very attached to my personal space and don’t like people invading it, even standing too close gets me a little anxious. But the belly? I am just so damn proud of it that I want to show it off. :D And it’s not like I’ve been groped or anything, people usually ask if I mind, then just pat it gently. That’s cool. I don’t mind that. :) Especially if they ask first.

28 Week Appointment

Jan 11, 2008 — 11:38 am

This morning I was awake before my alarm yet again. Still having issues with sleeping comfortably, though I’m willing to bet part of that is because my favorite positions block my airways. Can’t wait until I completely kick this sinus thing… but it’s definitely on its way. But at least I had to get up early anyways, so it wasn’t a wasted morning. :)

I got there a little early because it was raining (people drive slow, arg) and because my insurance has changed so I wanted to make sure I gave them a little time to get the new info put in. I checked in with registration, they told me to go to the Midwife’s office with the info. So I did. She took the new card and looked at it puzzled. She asked if I have the BC/BS HMO. I said, “Ummm, it’s the federal program…” I have no idea if it’s an HMO or not, I know it’s different than the “normal” one though. She said the card was for prescriptions. o.O That really caught me off-guard. We didn’t get any *other* card in the mail, just these ones. But she took it and did some photocopying and whatever else. When I got home I checked the mail, and the stuff that came with the card clearly states this IS my health insurance card, for everything, that I need to show at doctor’s offices. So I think she was just confused, probably because it is a different BC/BS program than normal.

So anyways, I sat for 5 minutes while she photocopied and got my glucose tolerance test order printed off, then I went down to the lab. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it tasted JUST LIKE orange soda. It was even carbonated a little – NOT something I appreciate, my body does not like carbonation. The hardest part for me was drinking the whole drink in 5 minutes! Soda is really difficult for me to drink, I usually sip it. I didn’t feel any dizziness or queasiness, just bloating and burping, lol. But I got it all down and was on my way back to the waiting room.

I sat and waited 10 minutes before someone called me back. The nurses (the usual nurse seemed to be training a young nurse) took my blood pressure (98/58) and weight (153.2) then sent me into the bathroom for a “sample”. Then sat me in a room. Where I waited. And waited. I waited quite a while and was getting a little anxious, because I had to be back to the lab for the blood draw at a specific time.

Finally the midwife came in and introduced herself. I loved her!! She gave me the same vibe my old midwife gave me… very down to earth and friendly and knew what she was talking about. I just liked her immediately. She asked me if I had any questions or concerns this month. I told her about the hip pain (not much can be done about that, it’s pretty normal), that I’ve weaned myself off the unisom (she was pleased with my weight gain), and that I’m just getting over a cold. She asked if I took anything, I told her I took some Sudafed but it did nothing so I just waited it out. She said, “Oh I’m sorry.” I shrugged – no biggie, my body took care of it. :)

I did ask her about the Celexa/Zoloft issue and how I think it’s best to switch, based on the reading I’ve done. She confirmed that I’ve been on Celexa for a long time (yep)… and she said that there is always concern switching someone who has been long established on a particular drug, as other ones might not work as well. That’s not to say they can’t switch me, but that it may or may not be in my best interest to do so. She said they obviously want to make sure that after the baby’s born, with my hormones going all crazy and the stress and everything, that my medication is stable. So she said she wants to talk it over with the other Midwives and let me know what they think would be best for me and my baby. I’m okay with that. If they honestly think that staying on the Celexa is better for me and Devin than playing around swith a new one, then I’ll trust their judgement on it. My concern is, of course, that it is passed through the breastmilk more with Celexa than with Zoloft. I’ll also have to talk with a lactation consultant and with Devin’s pediatrician (when I choose one). It’s a hard situation, there’s no real clear answer, both options have risks and benefits.

I also asked her what the standard newborn procedures were and what could and couldn’t be refused. She said that ANY procedure can be refused – it’s just a matter of how much resistence you’d get from the nurse at the time. Apparently someone recently declined the Vitamin K injection and there was a bit of a hubub about the hospital about it. Her suggestion was to talk it over with the pediatrician – if the ped is okay with not getting something, then chances of having a problem are lowered. She did say that the eye antibiotics can be declined without much issue, the Hep B vaccination is fully up to us whether or not we want to get it done in the hospital (or at all). She did say that they’ll test me for Group B Strep at 35 weeks, and if I’m positive for that then they will want to hook me up to antibiotics via IV during labor. She also said that in cases where women arrive too late or their labors are too fast to get the “full” dose of antibiotics they tend to want to keep the baby at the hospital for several days for observation and cultures and put them on antibiotics just in case. But again, she said it does depend on the pediatrician, and some peds say if there’s no sign of an issue then they don’t worry about it, but others want to keep the kid for observation for an extended period, etc. So quite obviously the choice of pediatrician is going to be important. (And I just hope I don’t test positive for GBS!)

After all that was discussed I hopped up on the table for a quick listen for the heartbeat. She did a quick feel of my belly before putting the wand down, and immediately there it was. I didn’t get a number, but it was loud and strong. She also measured my belly to be 28cm! Perfect! :)

I did mention to her about that pressure I’ve been feeling now and again, and the hard area across my belly when he apparently moves into that position. She said it’s very possible that I’m feeling is back or whatever. :) Course he wasn’t doing it at the appointment so she has no way to know. LOL

Then she flipped through my charts and mentioned I’d never had a TB test… I guess it’s something where they put a little tiny something under your skin and you watch it for two days to see if a big bump develops. She said I can choose to refuse it if I want. I shrugged and said I don’t really see a point in it – hard to make an informed decision when I’m sitting there. So she just nodded and that was that. Then she asked if they’d given asked me for a a clean catch urine sample or not. Well no. They had me pee into a cup, but no clean catch. So she asked if I could do that for a culture. I said I’d try. Boy was that difficult. I managed to squeeze out a few drops of urine. Yeesh.

I quickly booked my next appointment – for two weeks from now! – and then headed quickly back to the lab. I sat a few minutes then they drew three vials of blood (testing my blood sugar, for syphillis, and for anemia) and I was on my way. I did forget to ask the Midwife if they would call me with the results of the GTT, so at this point I have no idea when I’ll find out if I passed or not. I’m sure if I failed it they’ll call me, but otherwise… I may just have to wait 2 weeks for confirmation.

Interaction; Sleep

Jan 11, 2008 — 4:02 am

Laying here watching my belly move (he’s shaking my whole belly with a couple of good kicks), watching him poke at one spot just left of my belly button. I put my hand there and gentle felt the area… a small hard spot. He pushed back. I almost burst into tears. That’s my baby in there. I can almost TOUCH him. I love him so much.

::

I am awake because I fell asleep at 7:30pm and woke up at midnight with a bladder that was fit to burst. (Not from the kid, though… just because I hadn’t peed at all recently and boy did it hurt!) Then of course I couldn’t fall back asleep.

Discovered some more about the hip thing: my left hip hurts like hell whenever I roll onto it. It feels like a pinched nerve there, just below/behind the bone. I press in one spot and paaaiiinnn. So I can’t really lay on that side… unless I lean to my front or lean to my back. No laying directly on my side. Interesting.

Unfortunately this means that I’m sleeping 90% on my right side, which means by the time I wake up my right hip is aching. Not hurting in concentrated pain like the left, but just general achiness from being slept on too long.

Fantastic. This should be interesting. Maybe I should look into getting a massage… as if we can afford that right now. (Bank account… not doing well. Need to get our taxes done so we can get our return to buy the rest of the baby stuff we’ll need. Thank the light for a springtime baby and tax returns.)

Have to be up in 3 hours to go to my 28 week appointment and glucose tolerance test. Fun stuff people. I hope it goes well.

It gets harder a little at a time

Jan 10, 2008 — 7:18 pm

When I came home from work today (a whole 4 hour work day!) I said to Den I would probably be going to bed at 9pm today – which, for me, is really early. Well it’s now quarter to 7pm and I’m questioning whether or not I’ll make it even another hour. I am flat out exhausted. I was awake at 7:30 this morning due to my phone ringing (minor emergency at work that I had to take care of), and just started my day from there. Last night I fell asleep at 11pm so I thought I’d be fine. Apparently not. My energy has been seriously lagging all day. I took a shower just before noon just so I would manage to not fall asleep sitting at my desk.

My phone actually rung several times this morning in order to wake me up, so I was laying there half-awake for a little while. I think even if my boss hadn’t called more than once I still wouldn’t have been able to get back to sleep… my hips were aching again. :( Not like it was the other day, no… but they were definitely achy. I rolled from side to side and couldn’t get comfortable. I’m sure my breathing issues is having an impact on them, since it’s not very easy to adjust my sleeping position like it would normally be, but I also know that my hips are going to start getting worse now. And unfortunately several friends have told me that there’s not much I can do about it, no matter how soft the bed is, it’s going to hurt. :( Fun fun.

After taking care of the work emergency I came home and… I cleaned. Like I walked in, decided I had to clean the bathroom floor. RIGHT THAT INSTANT. I hadn’t eaten breakfast, I was starving for the pancakes I intended to make, but I COULD NOT start the pancakes until the bathroom had been cleared out and vacuumed. I mopped/scrubbed the floors after eating, but I had to at least vacuum first. The mopping only does so much good. Even scrubbing with a sponge. That linoleum in there is too old and stained to really actually look good. I really want to replace it, but that’s just yet another thing on our list of things to spend our money on – money we don’t really have right now. So even when I was done cleaning I was still mildly irritated with the bathroom… but it does look a lot better than it did. A lot better.

I also cleaned the kitchen… loaded the dishwasher, scrubbed the counters, brushed crumbs off the floor. Den said, “You’re really nesting, aren’t you.” I replied, “Duh!”

I am starting to get a little more sore at work. I did practice squatting while I was sweeping up a couple messes at work, that was good. But even just being on my feet for a while started hurting my feet. I had to take a break to sit down and eat something. Also, bending over really hurt my head, but that’s because of my sinuses, not the baby, lol.

When I got home from work I shortly felt a lot of pressure in my uterus… that same weird thing again. Almost like I have to pee… but not quite. Just heavy pressure. I felt my belly and sure enough found a large hard spot right in the middle. It wasn’t a BH though, as it wasn’t my whole uterus (and I didn’t have that tingly feeling) – I layed down to check, and the top and bottom of my uterus was normal, but across my belly button and extending to both sides was very hard. The only thing I can figure is that I was feeling his back. I wasn’t feeling any kicks or anything, so it makes sense that he had flipped to face my spine. Very weird!! Half an hour later it had gone back to normal and I was feeling little punches again… he wasn’t really active, but I’d feel something regularly. (And right now of course he is facing forward and doing his “everything all at once” dance, causing my belly to jiggle around in every which direction like I have popcorn popping inside.) I need to ask the midwife tomorrow what she thinks. Maybe she can even get a feel for what position he’s in… though I suspect it’s still too early for them to tell.

Okay, time for a nap. I have a midwife appointment early tomorrow morning so I’m going to have to try my best to sleep all night. Though as tired as I feel that shouldn’t be too hard!

First Birth Class

Jan 10, 2008 — 12:32 am

So tonight was our first Bradley class!

I had just spent all day cleaning the bedroom… until Den came home from work, then I sat and rested while he cleaned some. We are pretty darn pleased with the result (it’s not done yet, but it’s definitely a HUGE HUGE improvement over where it was!).

So anyways we were trying to get the last bit of wallscrubbing done before leaving for the class. I looked up the woman’s address (the classes are at her house) and got a map… I did try looking for the little info pamphlet she had sent me earlier, but being that I had opened it on the way to the airport before Christmas break I have NO idea where I stashed it. In the car? In one of my luggage bags? I have no clue. Inside that pamphlet was some written directions to her house. I figured, no biggie, it’s pretty local neighborhood, we have the house address. No worries, right?

Oh hell no. Apparently that entire neighborhood a) does not put house numbers on their goddamn mailboxes, b) does not put house numbers on their goddamn house and c) is really dark so even if there was a number on either we couldn’t see a freaking thing. Once I got out to ask at a house if we had found the right house, but only when I walked UP to the house I saw the house number on the side of the house, and it was the wrong one.

Also adding to the fun is that Den is really feeling sick now, and so he’s kind of headachy and short on temper. So he was pretty pissed – not at me, but just at being lost. I know it’s my fault for not having the directions, but ugh. It got pretty tense for a moment in the car.

Finally, 10 minutes late, I was going to ask at a different house where the hell #7 was… only to discover that the house I was walking up to was indeed #7. So Den and I hustled inside. We hate being late.

The teacher and her husband seem like very nice people. Very soft-spoken, kind, empathic type of people. There was only one other pregnant lady there, with her mom. I had to pee immediately after arriving.

The first hour or so was spent listening to the instructor talk about her two births, then starting to go over the Bradley workbook section on exercise and nutrition. The exercises she went over were quite interesting. Of course the kegel was mentioned. But also squatting (not doing “squats”, but actual squatting, almost sitting back on your haunches, for extended periods), and the “butterfly” which helps strengthen your leg muscles… and a couple others. The “homework” is to do some of each every week… the book gives a guideline, and to my relief it’s something like (3x, once per day). Hey I can handle that. 50 kegels though. Meh.

Nutrition was basically what I’d read before… 80-100 grams of protein a day, and a bunch of other recommendations that’s called the “Brewer’s Diet.” (I believe it’s on the Bradley website if you’re interested. Not too surprizingly, it just lists whole grains, citrus fruits, dark green veggies, protein, dairy, and some other things to eat on a daily basis, and some on a weekly basis. I have a hell of a time with eating a “balanced diet” because I’m so picky. I don’t really like any of the citrus fruits, I prefer the apples and pears and peaches. I really dislike veggies, especially green ones. I try to eat whole grains, but most of the time they taste “wrong” to me – like wheat bread compared to white bread. I’m sorry but there is no comparison, white bread is SO much better tasting to me. Dairy is not something I have a problem with, ever.

So I do have lots to work on this week, along with the cleaning and bill-paying.

So after the talking we watched a short birth video. That was interesting. Now I used to be rather addicted to birth shows like A Baby Story and especially House of Babies…. I stopped watching the former when the couples on the show became far far too irritating to me as I was being diagnosed as infertile, and stopped watching the second because all I was getting was re-runs. One very important distinction between the Bradley video and those TV shows: the TV shows blur out the vagina shots (well, most of them). Bradley video? Zoomed in. And I have to say, I watched it just fine, but all the muscle in my vagina tightened up and I sucked in my breath watching that head slowly come out. That skin was stretched TIGHT. It’s freaking amazing that it can stretch that much.

And plus? The baby’s head as it was coming out? Looked like some sort of squashed baby octopus. It was not pretty. All purple and squished to all hell… it really took me a moment to realize I was looking at a face, and I’m not kidding you. I knew that newborns look a little odd for a little bit, but I’ve never quite seen one THAT new. It wasn’t cute. I sure hope I don’t have the same reaction to my son (I’m sure I won’t, but…). Yikes man.

On the amazing side of things, Den watched the whole video, even the up close and person bits! And he said afterwards, “That wasn’t as bad as I always imagined.” He hastily pointed out to me that it was still pretty bad – water squirting out, a little bloody, a big stretched vagina – but not bad as he pictured. I’m pretty proud of him for that… for watching. I didn’t really think he would, and I wouldn’t have been upset had he chosen to look away. (Though I think a large part of his reason was that there were other people there and he would think he was a sissy if he was the only one averting his eyes. I know how men think!)

After the video we got down on the floor with our blankets and pillows and got into a relaxation pose and did a relaxation technique… tensing one group of muscles at at time, then releasing them and focusing on letting it go completely. This is what we’re supposed to do in late labor, relax our bodies so that our uterus can do its work unimpeded with all of our body’s energy.

So that was the class. 2 hours long. We go back next week for round two!

Did I learn things? Yes, a couple of things. A lot was repeating things that I already knew. I guess I’m just a little worried about the class being worth all the money we paid. This is really important to me and I hope it helps me…. and I really really hate wasting money, especially at a time like this. But I think I’d kick myself more if I hadn’t done the class.

So here’s hoping we learn a ton more as we go along!

Belly Mapping!

Jan 9, 2008 — 6:23 am

Someone linked to this on a forum… the coolest thing! Belly Mapping

Oh, you mean THIS kind of ache and pain?

Jan 9, 2008 — 5:40 am

You know, I really need to stop talking about how good I’ve been having it. It just seems to invite problems.

My sinuses are feeling a lot better, so I actually fell asleep at a normal hour like a normal person. I fell asleep on my left side with a pillow between my knees.

I woke up on my right side with no pillow between my knees. And a very significantly painful left hip. I tried rolling onto my left side, but rolling onto that hip just felt like I was whacking myself on a large, painful bruise. Hip NOT happy. Roll back to my left, prop it up with a pillow… but it continued to ache. In fact, little weird tingly shivers of pain were all the way down my left leg. Must really have done something to some nerves. Urk.

I tried waiting it out for 20 minutes, but the pain didn’t get better so I thought getting up would be the best thing for it… stretch it out, get the blood flowing, and get off my sides. I got out of bed and nearly collapsed on my left leg. Holy pain batman! I can barely put any weight on that leg, the pain just shoots up my hip.

So I’m limping around right now. I even had the pleasure of walking into the kitchen (which took effort to get over the baby gate – You know it’s bad when you stand there wondering if you should just take it down…) to find out the cats knocked over the garbage can again. Gah. Try bending over to clean that up right now. Urk.

So yeah. Hip pain bad. SLEEP WITH PILLOWS.

Bumps and Weirdness

Jan 8, 2008 — 11:36 pm

Just one of those days where I frequently look down at my belly and say, “What the hell are you DOING in there??” Or maybe not doing so much as… how are you sitting?? It’s like he’s sitting on my bladder… but not. It’s pressure against the front of my stomach… maybe my belly button which is causing the weird have-to-pee-but-don’t-have-to-pee feeling (it’s not the same “OMG have to pee!!” feeling that I get when he’s sitting down low). And I can feel… something… against the front of my uterus. No idea what it is. Just a “harder” spot than the rest of it. Freakin’ weird.

Edited to add: I was feeling some pressure again, so I was feeling around… definitely a “hard” spot just left of my belly button. As I was pressing around feeling how big it was (not very big), the lump “kicked” me! A foot maybe? Elbow?? How cool!!

Though I’m getting some bad heartburn. Yuck.

::

I am feeling MUCH better today. I was up all night blowing my nose like crazy, then slept until noon. When I woke up I felt a TON clearer than I have the past three days. Yay!! I still kind of sound like a frog, I’m still stuffed up a little, but it’s not near as bad as it has been.

But guess who is now stuffed up? I feel so bad that I gave him what I have. :( Guess it was pretty hard to avoid, though. I told him he should have slept on the futon.

Well, at least soup’s good for you. Sort of.

Jan 8, 2008 — 7:37 am

This sinus thing is driving me nuts. I have a couple hours where I feel tons better and think that it’s on it’s way out, then I get all clogged up again and I get incredibly frustrated that I can’t breathe. It feels like I’m suffocating, and it sucks! Currently the blockage keeps shifting from side to side, which is also annoying me. How can it do that? Why?? Oh I sure hope this means things are letting go. Cause ugh I am tired of sitting surrounded by tissues.

::

No belly button issues yesterday. He must have just been pressing funny on it on Sunday. Which is not surprizing to me… he’s been getting into some weird positions.

An hour ago I had to get up and walk around a bit, as however he was laying he felt very heavy and very strange. I could feel something firm and hard just below and to the left of my belly button… not sure if it was his head, his butt, or even his back pressing outwards across my belly. I wasn’t feeling any kicks or anything, so I have some suspicion he was facing my back at that point.

Now he’s back to the usual… it feels normal in there, and he’s kicking away at my right side.

Before Den fell asleep he got to feel some kicks and a BH contraction. Devin wasn’t being super active, but when I layed down I realized I was having a BH, so I told Den to feel my belly quick. He was surprized by how hard it was. As the BH faded Devin kicked his hand three times. lol Guess he was a little irritated by being squeezed like that. ;)

Just now my belly’s really twitching, so I pushed on one side… *kick kick* to my hand. I moved to the other side, again he kicked me. The third time he REALLY booted my belly. LOL That’s the first time he’s ever really responded to me… normally if I try to poke him he goes silent.

::

BabyCenter says that he measures 14.5 inches long and over 2lbs this week. My little growing baby! He still has so much more to grow though. Gosh it’s exciting.

::

The no-unisom and cold certainly have not affected my appetite at all. My body is sure to remind me when it’s been too long since I last snacked.

Since I’ve been home I’ve really cleaned up my eating habits, too. I ate two little chocolate cookies yesterday… that was all the junk I had. I know some of it is due to my being sick… I’m not drinking any milk other than in cereal, because I need to clear my sinuses out. So juice for me.

Still looking for more meal ideas though. It’s hard when I’m the one eating… since I have such picky tastes. Currently with me being sick I’m eating a lot of soup, pancakes, cereal. Nothing hard to make, and I’m loving the soup, lol. I try to mix eggs in there (though we just ran out), but I can only tolerate small amounts of scrambled eggs (for some reason they make me feel queasy… always have), and we don’t have an egg poacher. I think I need to invest in one. Toast! Oh yes, I love toast. The other day my boss gave me a rotisserie chicken that was fantastic, so we had a lot of chicken sandwiches. (Costco has THE best chicken!)

I’m drinking a lot of hot chocolate though, not because I really want hot chocolate but because it seems to work better than the sudafed and vaporub combined when it comes to helping clear my sinuses. The heat and steam, aahhhh. And no, I don’t like coffee and tea is a very very iffy thing. So hot chocolate it is for me.

Really though, I just want to feel better so I can concentrate on creating a weekly meals list and cooking properly, rather than stumbling into the kitchen to see what kind of soup I can have today.

Speaking of soup…. I think I need breakfast.

Or…

Addendum to my previous post: I have gagged a few times today for no apparent reason. Just walking along and *ug*. But no puking. There’s a part of me that is very nervous at any sign of anything and wants to take my unisom right now, but I think I’m going to just see how this week goes.
