Relaxing Doesn't Make Babies

Morning Sickness

August 16, 2007 — 1:55 am

I have got to stop mentioning how my morning sickness isn’t bothering me. It never fails, as soon as I type that I get sick. Okay, so this time it was several hours delayed… that’s not the point.

I was trying to sleep… honest I was. But that’s the problem with mid-day naps, especially extremely long mid-day naps: I can’t sleep at night. (No, so far in this pregancy fatigue is not one of my symptoms. Just watch, though, now that I said so I’ll get knocked off my feet.) So I was tossing and turning and trying to sleep. No such luck. I turned on a light and read the end of The Girlfriend’s Guide (still, on the whole, a very good pregnancy book, despite a few things that irked me).

I still say my nausea is just the weirdest thing. I get a slight “ick” feeling… like I want to burp, but I know if I do it could get messy. So after a while, after finishing the book, I wander over to the bathroom and pee. The weird part is that I’m sitting there peeing, thinking, Yup, definitely need to puke before sleeping. So I do. It’s weird that I can plan it (usually). I can wait until I’m done peeing, or reading, or whatever I’m doing at the time, and then puke when I want to. And it’s not like I’m puking my guts up either… I dry heave a lot, throw up a tiny bit, and I feel a million times better.

Very, very strange.

I compare morning sickness/pregnancy sickness to the following: going to an amusement park or fair on a hot sunny day, after you ate too much fried food and then went on an upside down ride…yup that was the feeling for me. Woooozie!

Oh and the “glow” of pregnancy, thank you but that is just me having a hot flash.

Good luck on your ultrasound today!

PS: You might want to check out the books about Nutrition during pregnancy. There were definately things to stay away from and healthy choices. The one I have is called “Healthy Eating for Pregnancy” by Amanda Grant. Also they say lemonade helps with the morning sickness.

the only thing that helped with my sickness were Preggy Pop Drops. You can find them at Babies R Us. They’re tasty, but slightly sour, which is, I think, what helps. Keep eating small meals throughout the day, too. Keep in mind that no matter how bad it gets it’s only temporary!
