“During pregnancy, the only FDA approved drug is Prozac. That said, many physicians have used others such as Zoloft, Paxil, etc…its just that they are not “cleared” for use in pregnant patients. However, ultimately its really between the mom and physician as to the best choices.<\/p>\n
“If Celexa works fine, then its really between the mom and doctor if they are to use it.
\nAs for breastfeeding my choices as per safety are:<\/p>\n
“1. Zoloft or Paxil
\n2. Celexa, Lexapro, or bupropion
\n3. Effexor
\n4. Prozac”<\/p>\n
Plus, I’m on very low dosages. I started at 40mg\/day of Celexa, and am currently down to 20, though I could even cut that in half I bet. Wellbutrin I’m taking 100mg\/day, and I’d cut it in half if I could (but the pill’s big and round). The more I read, the more I’m thinking I will just stay on the meds. As another doctor posted on that site, while it may very well be “safer” to not take any medications while pregnant, you have to take into account the health of the mother… and being severely depressed during pregnancy is NOT a healthy thing, for mother or baby.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
